A house tipped on its side, with several boys standing in front, after the Great Galveston Storm in Texas. The storm remains the worst natural disaster and the worst hurricane in U.S. history.
Galveston Hurricane Tour is the world’s premiere hurricane tour! We tell the story of how Galveston became the world’s most resilient city, through hurricane survival stories, tales of triumph and heartbreak, and even several hurricane romances. The fortitude of our ancestors will inspire you and change your perspective on life!
Your tour guide is Dr. “Hurricane Hal” Needham, an award-winning hurricane scientist who has survived 23 hurricane chases in the U.S. and Mexico. He describes what it was like to ride out the eye of Hurricane Grace (2021) at Mayan ruins in Mexico, and the close call he had in the eye of cat-4 Hurricane Ian (2022) on Charlotte Harbor, Florida.
The most popular tour is the Saturday evening walking tour, where guests walk two miles through historic Galveston, and take a break for dinner. Hurricane Hal also offers tours for schools and universities, summer camps, conferences/ retreats, and private tours for individuals and families.
